As they say, a ‘picture’ is worth a thousand words, and that is fervently and truly applicable in the case of this intriguing and innovative piece of technology. Showcased at the world’s largest electronic goods trade fair – CeBIT, 2011 by Samsung, this is a prototype of a large, transparent LCD screen with 46-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and ten-finger touchscreen capability.
But this enthralling transparent device is not only about a large display, it also features advanced integrated solar cells that are efficient enough to run exclusively off the power they accumulate from surrounding light sources! The specifications relating to brightness, refresh rates, or color reproduction are still not available, but this ‘epitome of green technology’ will surely prove to be a benchmark for our sustainable future. Samsung is looking to expand such green power technologies to other gadgets as well. It takes plenty of techno-tweaking to get gadgets to run on such low energy output and Samsung has done exceedingly well in designing hardware components to achieve this. Now, hopefully, we will see a consumer ready product with this technology soon enough!t
